The narrow end is just under 4 cm wide, so a little wider than usual. In contrast, the wide end is only just under 8 cm wide at its widest point. The inside of the tie is lined with the outer material and pattern. The tie is surprisingly easy to tie, although the cotton is a little stiffer and less slippery than silk. The "Blue" looks like it does in the photo, so it is significantly "lighter" than the "Light blue" series, only the pattern tends towards Arzberg's "Blue Flowers", not the cobalt color. The pattern is unobtrusive and not too sharp-edged ornate at the edges. For a long time I had been looking for a tie that didn't stand out too much to go with a soft wool fabric from the modern "tie is out" generation (which is also cut too tight to button up) with gray-light gray stripes that blended into each other: voilá! The care label says "dry clean."
